Local students experience forestry thanks to community support

The Sierra Cascade Logging Conference invited local students to a logging demonstration on May 8 and 9. The students were given an overview of the history of logging and were able to observe the complete operation of a mechanical logging operation from falling trees to loading logging trucks.

On April 29, Wildlife Biologist Rich Klug spoke to Shasta Valley land owners, biomass opponents and Shasta Valley Resource Conservation District (RCD) employees at a workshop on local biomass projects for private forestland owners. The workshop was sponsored by The Rainbow Ridge Forest Stewardship Project and the Siskiyou Land Trust.
