Western Oregon fire danger raised to EXTREME on Friday

Friday, August 14, 2020

Fire danger will be raised to EXTREME on Friday.  A Fire Weather Watch has been issued for the Willamette Valley and surrounding forestlands.  Fire Precaution Level 3 restrictions will be in place for most of our Oregon timberlands with Level 2 restrictions in place along the coastal strip starting August 15th.  The weather forecast is for near record heat combined with winds and low relative humidities.  Fires will start easier, spread faster and be more difficult to extinguish under these conditions.

Please remember that our timberlands are closed to the public at IFPL 2 and higher.  Starting Saturday all of our Oregon Timberlands are closed to public use based on the IFPLs.  Where ever you are, please be careful with fire or any activity could create a spark.  Please visit us at https://www.roseburg.com/Recreation/ for more details on accessing our Oregon Timberlands.  You can learn more about IFPLs and fire conditions at https://www.oregon.gov/odf/Fire/Pages/default.aspx
