Architects get creative with MDF

Cooper Carry, an award-winning architectural firm in Atlanta, GA, specializing in sustainable projects, designed their own 50,000 square-foot office space at 191 Peachtree Street in Atlanta, GA, and wanted to promote collaboration and connectivity while demonstrating a bold commitment to the environment. Using copious amounts of Roseburg’s FSC Certified Medite II MDF, the design team was able to achieve LEED Platinum Certification and win the ATL Downtown Design Excellence Office of the Year in 2010.

The unique and eye-catching application included fabricating all the desks, workstations, and storage closets out of Medite II and then clear-coating the MDF to leave the raw aesthetic of the composite wood panels. The end result is nothing short of stunning, and has served the firm well for many years.

The fabrication was done by AWI Member Mortensen Woodwork Inc. (Union City, GA).
