Bringing Outdoor Kitchens to Life with Armorite® Exterior MDF

When W.L. Construction had an outdoor kitchen/BBQ projects they needed to build, they turned to local Woodworking Industries for the job. They were looking for a custom solution for a client’s outdoor space, but the homeowners also wanted a unique space for themselves.

Enter Woodworking Industries, who was up for the challenge.

Challenge: The team at Woodworking Industries excels at custom cabinetry and architectural woodwork, and they have used Roseburg’s Medex (no added formaldehyde, moisture-resistant MDF) in the past with great results, so they were intrigued to explore the potential of Armorite for outdoor applications. (Always follow proper sealing, priming, and painting guidelines, which you can find here).

Solution: Armorite® Exterior MDF, which is engineered specifically for use in outdoor or high-humidity environments and can resist rot, decay, and insects, was the perfect material to use for this outdoor kitchen and barbeque area. Armorite also machines and accepts paint beautifully, making it easy to work with.

The installation is located under a roof but on an exterior deck, so exposure to the elements, as well as to pests, is a risk. Armorite panels helped these custom cabinetmakers create a beautiful and functional space that will stand the test of time.

Results: The homeowners are thrilled with their new outdoor spaces, and as demand for flexible outdoor living spaces continues to increase, the team at Woodworking Industries expect to be using Armorite to create additional custom outdoor kitchens for their clients in the future.
