What is Armorite® Exterior Trim made of?

90.5% pre-consumer recycled content entirely comprised of softwood fiber.  Softwood species of wood produce a trim product that has a more uniform surface that machines and cuts clean edges.

Does Armorite® have an evaluation report published by an accredited provider?

Yes, Armorite® Exterior Trim is recognized in the International Code Council Evaluation Service Report, ESR-4012, as satisfying the requirements of the International Building and Residential codes for Wood-Based Exterior
Composite Trim.

Does Armorite® Exterior Trim resist termites?

Yes, Armorite® Exterior Trim contains zinc borate which makes it resistant to fungal decay and subterranean termites, including Formosan termites.

No, Armorite® Exterior Trim can only be used in above-ground applications.

Does Armorite® Exterior Trim have a wood grain texture?

Armorite® Exterior Trim has a modern wood grain texture on one side and a smooth finish on the other.  It is reversible, depending on what aesthetic surface you prefer.

Is Armorite® Exterior Trim already primed?

Yes, Armorite® Exterior Trim is sealed and primed during the manufacturing process.

Do I need to prime and paint cut edges?

Cut edges of Armorite® Exterior Trim require priming and painting only when those edges will be permanently exposed to weather. See our official Installation Instructions for additional information.

Do I need to gap and caulk joints between between pieces?

Yes, all joints should be gapped 1/8” and caulked with a suitable caulk/sealant.  See our official Installation Instructions for additional information.
