Investing in the future of plywood at Roseburg
In the past five years, we have invested in new equipment at our mills and engineered innovation into manufacturing processes to optimize log use and product quality. As a result, we are better positioned to reliably deliver sustainably resourced panels at the face grades our customers demand.
As part of our plywood mill improvements in Oregon, new lathes and patching technology will combine to put us at the top of the game in specialty panel and B-face yields.
At Riddle Plywood, a new line completes the replacement of the mill’s green-end, positioning it to be the newest and most advanced veneer peeling operation in our industry. It also enhances our ability to produce 2-step MDO (medium density overlay), which provides for a buttery smooth panel when appearance matters. You can learn more here.
Meanwhile, a new butterfly patch is up and running at our Coquille facility, increasing incremental production capacity. Customers will see similarly-sized butterfly and football patches in the field. In fact, both patch styles may be present within a single unit of sanded, siding, underlayment and sheathing products.
Amid this investment, we continue to offer value to our customers through our integrated business model and our timberlands. Our Douglas-fir fiber in the west yields a plywood panel that is more stable, durable, and stronger than other species.
We’ll continue to share developments and updated product resources and information about all of our high-quality softwood plywood products on roseburg.com, so watch this space!
