MDF: Roseburg’s Newest EPD
EPDs Offers Standardized Environmental Impact Information
Knowing where to turn for reliable and trusted sources of information about the environmental impact of wood products is one of the best ways for consumers to stay informed about the products they’re buying, using, and recommending.
While it can be difficult to evaluate different product and manufacturer claims about environmental impact and sustainability, Roseburg offers third-party Environmental Product Declarations that take the guesswork out of trying to determine just how our wood products affect the world we all share.
Available for a wide range of Roseburg’s products, our Environmental Product Declarations—or EPDs—provide a transparent, unbiased source of environmental impact information independently validated by Underwriters Laboratories (UL), one of the world’s foremost safety certification companies.
EPDs focus on the environmental impact of wood products over their lifecycle from a “cradle-to-gate” perspective, or from the raw material acquisition through the manufacturing process. EPDs provide critical documentation to help buyers better understand a product’s sustainable qualities so they can make more informed choices.
Roseburg’s first seven EPDs debuted in 2018 and covered a range of products, including softwood plywood, particleboard, softwood lumber, I-joists, laminated veneer lumber, hardwood plywood, and thermally fused laminate panels.
In 2020, Roseburg received an eighth EPD for MDF panels produced at our Medford, Oregon facility. This EPD covers some of the most highly specified MDF brand names in the industry, including Arreis, Medite, Medite II, Medex, Medite FR, and Medite 3D.
Upon receiving our eighth EPD, Alberto Uggetti, vice president and general manager of UL’s sustainability division, congratulated Roseburg’s “…commitment to sustainability while showcasing their willingness to go above and beyond – all in the name of transparency and clarity.”
Helping our customers make the best decisions for themselves and their projects starts with giving them the impartial, straightforward information they need. Explore Roseburg’s entire line of EPDs here.
