Expanding Roseburg’s Roanoke Valley Lumber mill to deliver quality lumber at scale

When it comes to dimensional lumber quality, supply capacity, and dependability, Roseburg’s Roanoke Valley Lumber (RVL) mill delivers the goods, grade to grade. RVL marked its one year anniversary in February 2025, and is continuing to improve upon production and customer service into its second year of operations.

RVL, one of North America’s most technologically modern sawmills, has added a third shift during Q2 to expand production of our “Made in USA” lumber products. Fiber is sourced from sustainably managed domestic forests, including Roseburg’s southern pine timberlands in Virginia and North Carolina. This model effectively extends Roseburg’s integrated model from our roots in Oregon to the East Coast.

The mill recently completed installation of a towering crane – a new landmark in Weldon, North Carolina – to best manage and sort the logs it receives on site.

Through the expansion in production, the team has integrated feedback from customers into the product mix. For example, the mill has added production of MSR 1650 to the lineup to support customer demand for fiber that meets quality and appearance expectations.

Even within a challenging market, Roseburg’s commitment to reliability, quality, and strong customer partnerships in the eastern United States has enabled RVL to provide lumber across dimensions, lengths and grades that consistently meet demanding specifications.

Roseburg’s recent sale of a portion of its Roanoke timberlands will not impact quality, productivity, or cost of lumber produced at RVL. Our Eastern mills, which also include Chester Engineered Wood and El Dorado MDF, source wood and fiber from a variety of suppliers, including our own loblolly pine forests.

“One year in, our people and professional culture continue to complement the advanced technology and systems that give RVL an edge in producing the highest-quality lumber our customers rely on,” said Adam Reed, Roseburg’s RVL plant manager. “As we look ahead, we’re confident this strong foundation will support continued growth and long-term success—for our team members, our customers, and the Weldon community.’’
